This 3 day Uganda gorilla trekking safari will bring you face to face with the massive giants of Bwindi-the incredible mountain gorillas. Bwindi national park is located in the southwestern part of Uganda in Kanungu district with the road trip from Kampala city lasting up to 9 hours while if you start from Kisoro, you can make it there in 3 hours. The Bwindi impenetrable forest a UNESCO world heritage site famously known for harboring half of the world’s endangered mountain gorillas and the best place to encounter these gentle apes. The evening cultural performances by local communities around Buhoma is worthwhile to see or you can opt for a cultural village walk to meet and interact with the locals. You will also enjoy some souvenir shopping at the equator line which has a number of craft shops and restaurants.
GORILLA SAFARI ITINERARY
DAY 1: TRANSFER TO BWINDI NATIONAL PARK
The day will start after an early breakfast and you will embark on your gorilla safari southwards to Bwindi impenetrable forest. The journey will offer you highway sights of rural and semi-urban Uganda with several fruit and vegetable markets along the roads, craft and drum makers plus a stop at Uganda’s Equator monument where you will cross to the southern hemisphere. After the experience at the equator, the drive will continue with a stop at Mbarara for lunch before proceeding to Bwindi with short stopovers of picture sessions and other attractions. Proceed to Bwindi, check-in, and have dinner + overnight stay.
DAY 2: GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters where you will be briefed by the ranger guides and start your gorilla trek in the jungles of Bwindi. You are advised to hire a porter to carry your day pack because sometimes the gorillas could be located a distance far from the start of your trek, they can also help push or pull you along the slippery paths in the jungle. On finding them, you will be allowed 1-hour view and take photos of the gentle primates, enjoy your lunch, meet your driver for a transfer to your lodge. The time of trekking with gorillas in Uganda can be spent on a village tour or lazing of at the lodge as you savoir the memories of your experience.
DAY 3: DEPATURE
You will enjoy breakfast, be transferred with a stopover at Mbarara for lunch. The drop off at the preferred destination.
