Hoima District is a municipal town in the Western Region of Uganda. It is bordered by Buliisa District in the north, Masindi District in the northeast, Kyankwanzi District in the east, Kibaale District in the south, Ntoroko District to the southwest and the Democratic Republic of the Congo across Lake Albert to the west. It is part of the Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom and the administrative and commercial center.
It takes you close to two and a half hours to drive on a well tarmacked road from Kampala to Hoima District.

Mparo Tombs
This area is where Omukama Kabalega’s palace was located.Mparo Tombs is also the final resting ground of King Kabalega II who was exiled in Seychelles by the British empire in 1899
Butiaba Landing Site
This area was an important Port for the ship services provided by the East African Community and the post-independence colonial government.
Oil Industry
There are several companies engaged in oil drilling activities in the areas of Lake Albert and also you can be given a tour around some of the oil wells.
Kibiro Salt Gardens
These salt gardens are positioned on shores of lake Albert in Kibiro fishing village, this is where the hot springs are found (Kibiri village, Kigorobya County in Bugahya county-Hoima district) The hot springs also attract many visitors who seek healing from gods.
Karuziika Palace
This is the seat of the Present Omukama(King) of Bunyoro HRH Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I.
Fort Katasiha
It was the biggest fort built by General Colville after King Kabarega abandoned his capital in Mparo in 1893
